Francesc Cecília

My name is Francesc Cecília. I am an archaeologist and a PhD candidate at the IMF-CSIC. I use satellite imagery at different scales of analysis to characterize regional physiographic features. This information is then combined with geological, climatic and archaeological data to determine landscape change and make hypothesis on settlement patterns and resource exploitation strategies. I am applying this methodology in North Gujarat, India.

Recommend a book and a popular-science website. A Book: Archaeology as Human Ecology (Karl W. Butzer, 1982). Some Websites: NASA (National Aeronautics and Spatial Administration) and ESA (European Space Agency).

Recommend a museum or a divulgation centre. I would recommend the Smithsonian Institute installations and facilities.

What I like about studying archaeology is the interdisciplinary of the archaeological method. Our research allows the integration of different fields of scientific research to improve our perception and knowledge of past human communities.

My discography is never lacking rock and indie folk music, both of which help relaxation or take you to jump and dancing! Although Indian music is full of surprises ..

My favourite place to get lost is... If we are in a survey, nothing better than a top dune under the stars. If I am in BCN, I like high sightseeing points!

... was a/an … film. I recommend it!/unmissable! This answer is not properly a movie, but I like the final credits “evolution” of Wall-e film...and the short storytelling’s of Oliver Jeffers.

A little wonder usually nearby that we may ignore is the roman aqueducts of Barcelona crossing the ancient walls. We can observe them from the lobby of the Adriaca House.
